Personal Branding Photoshoot for Krystal Thompson —

Hotel Wilderness is the practice of Krystal Thompson, Board-Certified Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner.

I had the honor of working with Krystal to refresh her online identity through a new set of portraits. She reached out while she was in Portland because she was tired of the cookie-cutter approach to online entrepreneurship that she thought she had to uphold, and wanted to represent an evolution in her brand through photographs that she could see her true self in. Overall, I wanted to combine her down-to-earth vibe with modern elements — I opted for a location that was heavily forested, but had a gorgeous building close by.
After receiving initial inspiration references, we formulated a concept that tied together the beauty and breadth of the woods with the simplicity of a studio setting; instead of traditional photo paper, we instead chose a softer fabric that moved with the wind. I sourced a small rustic table and chair, and raided my prop stash for light-colored items that had a touch of femininity. I need to give Krystal major props for bringing the most wonderful outfits that fit the environment perfectly, and being game for this super fun idea! I love brainstorming and styling these portrait branding shoots so much, especially when we can create something as magical as this — and come out with a new friendship on the other side, too.
