SHOOT NOTES —
Emily brought me on for this shoot to style her subject, Sara Hauman. Sara is a chef (recently seen as a contestant on Top Chef) and also has her own line of tinned fish in the cutest Packaging — The Tiny Fish Co. Inspired by Sara’s immersion in the food world, Emily created a few studio concepts and offered notes like the ones paired with the photos below for wardrobe styling.
It was wonderful to work on a purely creative project with a team again, and I really love how this mix of medium format film and digital photographs turned out.

LOOK ONE —
Emily Krouse: “I wanted the first look to resemble a renaissance oil painting of a great leader; to give her more of a serious masculine look/feel.”
LOOK TWO —
EK: “The second look was meant to be a representation of theatrical Victorian fashion - Sara's features seemed to fit that realm quite well. The berry lip and pale face were meant to mirror the stage makeup you'd expect to see in that time.”
LOOK THREE —
EK: “I wanted the third look to feel more like Sara in her element; fresh groceries around and ready to create something new and fresh. Seeing her in her happy place lent a lot to the overall feel of the image, and brought it to a more natural, peaceful place.”
LOOK FOUR —
Bonus outfit! Created at the end of the shoot with extra (all-red) pieces, including these earrings that look like tiny gold baskets of apples.
