POEM VIDEO — “what is now will soon be past”
A couple of years ago, I read a poem and couldn't help but imagine that poem visualized as some sort of lil video, with the poem itself as the underlying narration — since then, I have storyboarded five poem videos, and this is the first of them I've finished — I'm starting small, and i've already learned so much about this whole process.
An incredibly huge shoutout to Sarah for being an extraordinary collaborator, from working on this choreography with me to lending her voice to the narration.
This poem by Yrsa Daley-Ward evokes such ethereal imagery and it has been repeating in my mind for months now — please go check out her work, it's breathtaking!

FLOWER FEELINGS —
I am endlessly inspired by flowers. (Is that painfully obvious?) By the way they look, naturally, but also by the way they feel — I received some of these in a recent delivery from my husband and I couldn’t stop touching them — I went back for a few more stems that had unique sensory experiences.
Once I got back home, I set up a simple black backdrop with some light rigging for the stems. I wanted to hone the focus on the flowers and their movement — and nothing else.
QUATRE — A FOUR-PART COLOR STORY
I’ve always wanted to put together a pastel rainbow palette with some multiple models, but for the longest time, I could never find a way to tie it all together. I started to build these outfits out more recently once I stumbled upon a few formal matching pieces in the same pastel values, and my finds let me in the direction I would ultimately pursue.
While this idea was building in my mind and mood boards, Cream Creative Space posted sneak peeks at this new set installation — and I finally had my missing puzzle piece. Four sides, four models, four pastels. I had this idea for a short video while planning the poses, and love how it turned out. (Accompanying reel here!)
A FORLORN FASHION (MINI) FILM —
Born out of a need to make something new after a creative hiatus, and the realization that I had an abundance of pink things in my styling closet, I booked some time at Cream Creative Space, found a subject, and we spent two hours making this mini fashion film together.

PUSHING DAISIES —
Really the simplest little video — I was walking around the park across from my apartment and as I neared home, I stumbled across this spot of daisies, and came back with my camera. Every time I watch this short, 6-second clip, it transports me into another world — a tiny one, amongst the flowers, the ladybugs, and the breeze.
MELTING AWAY — A TIME-LAPSE —
I wanted to try my hand at making a timelapse, and I was searching for a subject when I found Onya’e on Instagram — they’re local to Portland and make these incredible decorative candles with a bubble motif. I thought this structure would melt beautifully, and it did! The time-lapse had to end prematurely because the bottom of the candle melted down, and the wick fell out — but I learned a lot about this format and I can’t wait to try more in this medium.
ALPACA FARM HONEYMOON —
When our plans to elope in Iceland in 2020 were dashed, so too were our honeymoon plans — we pivoted towards looking at interesting Airbnbs that were far outside of the city, and found Nancy’s Alpaca Farm. Nancy and her hundreds of alpacas were incredible hosts — we checked in with them every morning and night, and on the last night, we even got to help Nancy with the final steps of delivering a new baby alpaca.
